* I've just received this from our friends at Pan Macmillan... As mentioned, they are doing a video interview with Mr Horwood next week - so IF ANY WONDERLANDERS HAVE A QUESTION TO ASK THIS AMAZING AUTHOR, PLEASE EMAIL IT TO ME, AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!

Okay - not strictly Fantasy - but being NC of Wonderlands has to give me some perks! Carl Sagan is my all-time hero and this made me smile all day!
Enjoy!
Debbie
ETA: Was going to take this down as it's been up for 2 weeks - then I remembered that November 9th was Carl Sagan's birthday - with Nov 7th having been named 'Carl Sagan Day' in some parts of the US... so I have ADDED the following> "Pale Blue Dot" Please watch it. Beautiful...… Continue
The 25th Anniversary Edition of 'LEGEND' will be released by Orbit on 15th October, but they have very kindly given the DGLA copies to give away in advance!
As you can see, they are rather handsome, classy-looking paperbacks with a new Foreword written by Stella Gemmell and an interesting new imagining of Sn… Continue
Good news dino-lovers! After it's somewhat hasty & sudden cancellation PRIMEVAL has been re-commissioned and growling and roaring back onto our screens next year! I know there's a few Wonderlanders who'll be really happy about this...

This great picture of Mr Andrzej Sapkowski with his 'Snaga' trophy which he won in June, being the first ever recipiant of the 'David Gemmell Legend Award for Fantasy' (DGLA). The picture was kindly sent to me by Gollancz publishers, who had the tricky task of sending the awesome double-bladed bat… Continue
Did anyone catch the 1st espisode of this new programme 'Deadliest Warrior' on the Bravo channel? It's a really interesting idea where they pit warriors from different periods of history against one another - firstly, they examine their weapons and techniques and put all the stats… Continue
ETA: Here's the revised sale listing to avoid the dissapointment of selected books being already unavailable :-(

Maintaining a spanking new genre Award is surprisingly expensive, and so, as we at the DGLA sit back and rest somewhat on our laurels from an amazing first year, it occurs to me that the very large wobbly s… Continue

Ah, thought that would get your attention! Tis true though...
WAR OF THE WORDS
A new initiative by SciFiNow in association with Tor UK, an imprint of Macmillan Publishers Limited. Says they will take SF or Fantasy. Looks like the same deal they give authors through their Macmillan 'New Voices' scheme - possibly not the best deal in the world - but a foot in the door none-the-less :-)
I… Continue

So cool!
BTW, I haven't seen the 'Twilight' film, but Edward does come across as kind of creepy in these clips... don't get me wrong, I'm all for intense but... ewww... Continue
Peter Harrow, one of the co-Chairs of this year's excellent LX EasterCon, has just been in touch to tell me about a wonderful, new STEAMPUNK EVENT planned for September this year - to take place in Lincolnshire...
From the Asylum's website:
"Weekend at the Asylum is the first UK Steampunk "Convivial" or Festival. It is a gathering of Steampunk enthusiasts and Neo-Victorians and a celebration of a retro-futuristic world.
Weekend at the Asylum will… Continue
Had some great fun at the Con...
Great to catch up with some Wonderlanders & meet some for the first time... I'm sorry I didn't organise a Wonderlands drinks - but there was so much programming happening, it could have been difficult to get eveyone together...
The Con itself was great fun – the major downside was definitely the locations of the overflow hotels – Tiff & I were in the Hilton, which was a couple of miles from the main Con hotel, the Cedar Court. There was a shuttle bus, b… Continue

I ADORE 'Being Human'!
For those of you who missed it, it's a drama about a vampire, a werewolf and a ghost sharing a flat! Sounds horribly cliche, I know - but you know what, it really isn't! The writing (Toby Whitehouse) is just superb - understated almost.
When BBC3 first showed BH it was a one-off pilot episode - hardly any trailers or anything - I just stumbled across it completely by chance. It was brilliant - I was raving on about it to everyone (no one else seemed to have seen it at tha… Continue
