Readers love getting into an exciting world of magic populated by great characters, and then having multiple novels with which to enjoy the experience. Publishers do a lot of printing to meet this need, but then readers often complain that promising series degenerate into meandering narratives that go no where.

Castle bound
This story is a work of fiction. All characters and events portrayed in this story are either the products of the author’s imagination or are used fictitiously.
The duty of a prince is to rule firmly without becoming a tyrant.
The first precept from The Duties of a Prince.
“The palace protects your daughter madam,” an unidentified male voice whispered from the wall next to Jenna’s bed. A thrill of fear began to flow in Jenna’s heart but it had no time to develop as the conversati…

I just posted a new album with some pictures for my book The Shadowborn General.
One of the pictures is a map that's going to be put into the book and the others are colored pictures for my future website. They are all inspired by scenes from the book.

I've made a lot of progress lately as documented on my wordpress blog. I'm only 2 chapters from finishing my book but then I have a lot of work to do after that. I need to go back and add a bunch of material that I thought of later, more detail, and edit the entirety of the book before I start sending it to others to edit.
However I already started looking for an artist to do my cover for me. I've had some great artists contact me and the illustrations look wonderful. It's fairly cheap compared…

Usually I have chosen a book title before I have the story down on paper. That has true with all ten of the books I have written, but with book three of the Silent Warrior Trilogy I couldn't make up my mind.
It started with "Menarm the New City", then "Elfs in a Kingdom of Men" and finally "Elfs in a Conquered Realm".
My Favorite was "Menarm the New City" but at the same time I want my entire Elf Series to have the word Elf in the titles. It was this criteria that disqualified that title.
"Elfs…

Self publishing is not an easy road for book authors, but it has the great advantage of being an open road instead of a closed road. Self publishing is a toll road because you will have to pay to produce your own work. Whether self publishing leads an author to disappointment or satisfaction depends on the person and the works being produced.
Like most authors, I started self publishing with grandiose dreams of success. I still have those dreams but operate within modest realities. Since I bega…

Morven Moonraven, Mrs Morven Moonraven, Mrs Jed Moonraven, Mr Jed and Mrs Morven Moonraven….The Moonraven Family …...
The Unwise Woman chewed the soggy end of her green biro as she paused from doodling in a well thumbed Book of Shadows. The words were not details of a love spell but wishful thinking. She couldn’t make things happen against someone’s free will, sooo against the rules. The sort of thing that would come back and bite her on the bum three fold.
She dropped the biro with a sigh of s…

Respect and Responsibiity:
Temmin sat up, propping his arms on the back of the couch. “You were at Whithorse when Mama got married. Just how unhappy was Mama when she had to marry Papa?”
Jenks turned from the little luncheon table and frowned. “Why would you ask me that, sir? Now of all times?”
“I can’t help thinking about Mama, I suppose, and we’ve been--studying this sort of thing. Teacher said Grandfather gave her to Papa…

A Lesson:
“Hm?” said Ansella. The lesson. It had been something about Venna’s brothers, the treacherous rapist Eddin, the violent rapist Farr, and the lecherous rapist Nerr. At least she thought that’s what it was about. She never really listened to lessons or sermons anyway; she preferred service and offerings. But it was so warm and pleasant under the tree. Ansella didn’t pay much attention to the words, bobbing gently up and down on the rhy…

Duty:
Today Brinnid would sail with the tide. He had finished his last business at the consulate, and, though absent Stewn’s careful watch, his trunks were aboard. He now waited impatiently in the downstairs receiving room for the gig to take him from the consulate to the docks.
Brinnid reached into his vest pocket for his watch, but he checked himself, moved to a pocket closer to his heart, and drew out a small case instead.…
