Scott M. Sandridge Writerly Update 11/20/09

Since my day job cut me down to two days a week, I decided to turn the crappy situation into an opportunity to get more writing done and more submissions out. I'm currently at 31,000 words on Emperor of Vangaard, and 1500 words on a nonfiction article. In the past two days, I've sent out two queries and seven submissions. I've also recently came up with ideas for about fifteen or so articles to write. What can I say? I'm getting sick of dealing with crappy day jobs again. >( Continue

Tracy Falbe Why fantasy series drag on and why we keep buying them

The fantasy genre thrives on multiple book series. Readers love getting into an exciting world of magic populated by great characters, and then having multiple novels with which to enjoy the experience. Publishers do a lot of printing to meet this need, but then readers often complain that promising series degenerate into meandering narratives that go no where. Go to any online forum where fantasy books are being discussed and you will always find threads complaining about fantasy series that h… Continue

Vic Castle Bound Chapter 1 (version 3.5)

I Castle bound This story is a work of fiction. All characters and events portrayed in this story are either the products of the author’s imagination or are used fictitiously. The duty of a prince is to rule firmly without becoming a tyrant. The first precept from The Duties of a Prince. “The palace protects your daughter madam,” an unidentified male voice whispered from the wall next to Jenna’s bed. I also imply a romantic relationship between the more minor characters of Alexandra and Roquelaure. Because this is a vampire book, I've not been afraid to fol… Continue
