The duty of a prince is to rule firmly without becoming a tyrant.
The first precept from The Duties of a Prince.
“The palace protects your daughter madam,” an unidentified male voice whispered from the wall next to Jenna’s bed. A thrill of fear began to flow in Jenna’s heart but it had no time to develop as the conversati…

Hi all,
My name is Gabriel, and I'm an employee of Excelsior Youth Center (
http://www.excelsioryc.org/), a residential treatment center for girls aged 11-19. Girls come to us from around the country when their emotional displays are too great for their families and schools to handle. They come to us rather than heading to detention, and we are given an opportunity to work with them on ways to better manage their lives, with the goal of reuniting them wi…

While traveling we always have new experiences, whether they are amazing, life changing or just disillusioning. Tell us your travel story. It may deal with a travel journey to a new place, time traveling, revisiting one's past, visiting a lost love or a new one, or an inner journey. Travel reports can be as much about one's internal navigation of their emotions as a physical voyage.
There is currently running a free-to-enter short story contest on BookRix for writers and readers. The theme is "…

My publisher recently posted an ebook edition of
Vampires of the Scarlet Order at All Romance ebooks. I've never really thought of the Scarlet Order series as being romance. However, romance is very much a part of the book. There's the romance between the vampires Daniel and Mercy, Hunter and Alice and of course Rudolfo and Jane. I also imply a romantic relationship between the more minor characters of Alexandra and Roquelaure. Because this is a vampire book, I've not been afraid to fol…

In a few days, I'll be kicking off National Novel Writing Month with my first foray into Fantasy.
My sixth SF novel - Captain's Share - has just finished up and is moving nicely but while I was wrapping up production on that, one of my friends challenged me to "win" NaNoWriMo in 15 days instead of the traditional 30. If you're not up on NaNo Lore, that means write a 50,000 word "novel" in 15 days instead of using the whole month.
It should be interesting. I accepted the challenge, of course, a…

I am so looking forward to this year's annual Gamesfest 4 . A lively and well attended extravaganza of RPG and other Gamer delights. It also has a wonderful collection of guest authors of fantasy, sci Fi and horror ( including me !) and top graphic comic artists and writers to meet and greet. I will be with Derek Gunn , Steve Dean , Peter Mark May , Gary Charles on the Horror / Dark Fantasy panel. That should be lively and great fun. Hopefully the gamers will be able to tear themselves away from…
