Some Of My Sea Poems

ARGOSY.

The word scintillating
with its busy syllables
would do well to describe

that fat gold band
of sunrise
igniting the sea -

a billion shavings
of bronze,
molten metal

of the Aegean
from which
the muscle and sinew

of Talos
were forged
aeons ago;

the crumbling chalk
face of Dover:
a photo flash through

to sunbleached hills
along the coast
of Montenegro;

the hanging thread
on this carriage seat:
fraying bark

from the cut off
sun tan denim trouser leg
of a palm tree.
