I was surprised to discover that George R R Martin wrote the novel that the short story featured in because I am more familiar with his fantasy novels.

At 9:41am on October 9, 2008, D L Owens said…: Event Horizon is a definitely horror with Sci-fi running a distant second. Aliens struck me as being a half/half sort of deal. Nightfliers is another that would fit into the half/half category. Even though there was some focus on the crew being psychic, the nature of the violence done against the crew is without a doubt horror. I'm trying to think of others that fit into the horror/sci-fi cross genre... Chime in if you can think of any. Beowulf (the Christopher Lambert film) could quite easily fit into the fantasy/horror cross-gen due to some of the themes, but is more fantasy than horror.
There are other cross-overs as well, but those are the more immediate ones that I can think of.

But enough of that - just wanted to say congratulations on the Bram Stoker award. It's on my 'to get' booklist (which is increasing massively since I joined Wonderlands, I'm glad to say!)
