Event Horizon was okay, but I found it hard to connect to the characters. I can usually overlook plot problems if I connect with the characters, but even a well-plotted story can be let down by a weak cast.

I just found the IMDB page for Nightflyers, but the description is a bit off. It has been absolutely ages since I saw that film... I was surprised to discover that George R R Martin wrote the novel that the short story featured in because I am more familiar with his fantasy novels.

Event Horizon is a definitely horror with Sci-fi running a distant second. Aliens struck me as being a half/half sort of deal. Nightfliers is another that would fit into the half/half category. Even though there was some focus on the crew being psychic, the nature of the violence done against the crew is without a doubt horror. I'm trying to think of others that fit into the horror/sci-fi cross genre... Chime in if you can think of any. Beowulf (the Christopher Lambert film) could quite easily fit into the fantasy/horror cross-gen due to some of the themes, but is more fantasy than horror.
There are other cross-overs as well, but those are the more immediate ones that I can think of.

Ah, Evil Dead and the running-from-an-unseen-monster thing. I am wondering if you consider movies like the Alien saga to be horror...

Hilarious! Did any of the guards that searched you know who Bram Stoker was? I am a little curious...

It looks like you could do serious damage with those awards... :D

It's not a hardship to share with people you admire :)

And thank you so much for adding me - it was a great (and lovely) surprise!

Hi Linda,

I think we joined at about the same time, but I'm stumbling around, getting lost, trying to say hello and missing people all over the place.

But enough of that - just wanted to say congratulations on the Bram Stoker award. It's on my 'to get' booklist (which is increasing massively since I joined Wonderlands, I'm glad to say!)

That's a good thing. I haven't picked up your book yet, but it's next. I'm finishing Carole's, then I've got Valjeane's and Ronald's to read. When I get yours I'll send it to be signed before reading it. Oh yeah, send me the address again. I deleted the message before I wrote it down (old age).
