Well, with plane tickets being about 3 times the average salary here, and then having to pay around double for a return ticket... I would give a kidney to live in the UK or in the A
States but have to make the best of a deteriorating situation here. Thanks for the encouragement James, it means more than you know!
Hey James, unfortunately I won't be at the ceremony, the commute from South Africa is hell! :-) Looking forward to more Hirad and Denser and Ilkar! Thanks for great some of the best fantasy I've read in a while, but you are forewarned, I'm gonna give every fantasy writer out there some major competition when I publish my own book! Keep well!
Hey James, finished Dawnthief last night and loved it! The Raven and the Bridgeburners are gonna have to battle it out some day because it's going to be difficult for me to choose a favourite! :-) Here's my review: http://davebrendon.wordpress.com/2009/03/11/review-chronicles-of-the-raven-dawnthief-james-barclay/
Will definitely be searching up the rest in the series!
I just got your new books to review. I hope they're as much fun as 'the Raven' books. Unless you're going to kill off all the people I like again*. In that case, I'm going to create spurious rumours about your personal hygiene and make ill-deserved comparisons to R.A. Salvatore.
That'll learn you.
*Actually, I like it that you do that. Adds a great sense of 'will he won't he'. Once I've stopped cursing. Obviously.

Hi James
Sorry I had to dash off straight after the panel on Sunday. Thanks for helping to make it so easy :-)
It's amazing that via this small community i can say to you: thankyou for writing the raven books! You are one of my idols, and have inspired me in some small factors of my own first book: The Children of Reckoning!
Ah, Glasgow East, the By-Election From Hell. Well, I was there, doing my bit with last minute leafleting and poll station duty, and duly got sunburned most mightily for my trouble. And then, stone me, the Nats snatched the seat by a few hundred votes while my lot, Scot Libdems, were pushed into 4th by the Tories and lost our deposit. Dear god almighty, what a disaster. Other than that, I`m just pushing on with the new nov in the hope of Riches Beyond Avarice (Avarice being a small town in northern Italy ;-)

I've just recently read Vault of Deeds as well. And yes, it made me giggle like a toddler on helium. I had no idea Elves could be so formal!
How's it going?
