It was not darkness. It was utter absence of light.

Eerie and disorienting though it was, he pressed through it with the confidence of familiarity, and soon there was a pinprick blue glow far off in the distance. The light was so small that it was difficult to find again if he took his eyes away. To his left a river rushed past in the other direction, carving its way through the stone cavern, and he could feel its strength in the spray on his cheek.

I'm just glad I got to see it. Incidentally, when it's done, I'd love a look at it...

My pleasure. Most of what goes on in publishing is arcane, to say the least.

In general, yes. Wonderlands is a passworded community (as you know, Bob :) ) but it's still rather public. Usually a person can get away with publishing the first chapter online without publishers throwing up their hands--but you do more than that at your (sales) peril.

Awesome! Yes, I can see you're having fun with it. You should be. The only piece of advice I've got is tangential: consider what the sensitivity level to pubbed-on-the-net is for publishers you're considering. Most still do see publication-on-the-net as the end for "First Rights"--which can make a work that's been so pubbed difficult to sell.

Congratulations on being accepted onto the two MFA programmes for fiction, CorLynn! Fingers tightly crossed that you get the funding you need. The excerpts you have posted that I have read really give me a sense of being inside that fantasy world you are creating. Here's hoping you get the funding!

Welcome to Wonderlands, CorLynn! Enjoyed the detail in the extracts from your work in progress that you posted. Lifted my spirits a bit, which takes a lot! And I enjoyed the review of The Woman in White, excellent insights. Wonderful novel.

Reviews written by fans rather than stuffy critics?

Don't know what you mean, CorLynn.... :) but keep up the good work.

Plenty to keep you amused here, I think. Welcome.
