Hello,
I'm very new to this group but Debbie told me about the bragging area and I have something to brag about so here i am!!
I wrote a six book fantasy series called The Riyria Revelations. Book One: The Crown Conspiracy was released in October 2008 and the second book (Avempartha) is scheduled for April 2009.
Fantasy Book Critic did a great review on it this weekend. Here is the link to check out.
Yes, they do a great job over at the Fantasy Book Critic site! It's lovely to see reviews written by people who love the genre so much and are so widely read... So, double kudos to you Michael!
...see, I told you bragging was good! ;-)
I am interested to know your experience of working with a small independent press? They are obviously interested in your longer-term career as they have committed to the series - something that's very rare amongst the 'majors' these days!
So far I've been happy with the small press that I signed with. They setup I think 14 book signings for Oct and November and they are working on a tour now for the April release of book 2. They were not as good as I would have liked at working on getting reviews - so my wife (who kind of handles the business side) of things is doing that. They just be too busy to do it all as it were. The signed book 2 before book 1 came out which is a definitely a good sign. In full disclosure I don't have anything signed for books 3 - 6 but they have said verbally that they will produce them. I'm not concerend that there is nothing signed at this time we are in constant communication and I think both sides are happy.

Hey Michael, welcome to Wonderlands! :-) Robin sent me a copy of TCC, and I have to finish Empire in Black and Gold before I get to your book, but will let you know as soon as I do. :-) Great seeing you here, :-)

Because Dave is awesome and your wife is keen to spread your goodness, I got a copy to read too and will do so over the Xmas period whilst my life is quiet.
Hey Liz...Hello - thanks so much for getting a copy of the book - It is really exciting to see people picking it up - and even more exciting once I have a chance to talk to them about their impressions. I'd love to hear your opinions when you are done.
Hey Michael, just had to let you know quickly that I (unfortunately) had to put aside Empire in Black and Gold - I just wasn't getting into it. Hadrian rocks! :-) But Royce... now that's a very cool, slippery guy! Wonderful book!
