Hi,
I'm Mihai Adascalitei, I'm a passionate reader and I run the blog Dark Wolf's Fantasy Reviews. I post reviews to my recent readings, interviews and some thoughts of mine.
This week the guest of fantasy art posts is one of my favorite artists, Raymond Swanland. I'll admit that I am an admirer of his works and I absolutely love the cover artworks he has done for publishers like TOR, Wizards of the Coast, Night Shade Books (with a weak spot for the artwork for the Glen Cook's novels).
I finished Jeff Carlson's novel, "Plague Year". It is not the best post-apocalyptic novel I read, but it is a fast and relaxing read. And the premises of the scenario are pretty disturbing.
My next guest is the American artist, Kekai Kotaki. He works for ArenaNet from 2003 and he works as a concept artist at the company's series of games, Guild Wars. Recently he made the artwork for the fantasy novel "Berserker Lord" by David Farland, which will be released this year by TOR.
This week the guest of my fantasy art posts is the Polish artist, Mariusz Kozik. Mariusz has a passion for history which is reflected on his art. His portfolio consists in many pieces related to history, but his talent shows itself on his Science Fiction ones as well.
I finished Adam Roberts' "Yellow Blue Tibia". I was familiar with the author's short stories, but this is his first novel I read. It is a lovely novel and I enjoyed it a lot. Although the Science Fiction elements of the novel seem to be in the background they are quite powerful. And I absolutely loved the humor of the novel caught in scenes, situations and dialogues.
I finished a collection of stories written by Reggie Oliver, "Madder Mysteries". It is quite an interesting collection, with stories playing with the strange, supernatural and horror, the last one most of the time only just hinted. And the last part of the book, with snippets told in a newspaper manner are very funny and entertaining.
I finished the debut collection of stories of R.B. Russell, "Putting the Pieces in Place". It is another collection in which the stories have a subtle and hinted horror, with some interesting accents on human nature and psychology. R.B. Russell is an interesting discovery for me and I wait to read other of his works, especially since I saw that he has a story on the upcoming Ellen Datlow's anthology, "The Best Horror os the Year Volume 1".
