Hi,
I'm Mihai Adascalitei, I'm a passionate reader and I run the blog Dark Wolf's Fantasy Reviews. I post reviews to my recent readings, interviews and some thoughts of mine.
One of the novels I really enjoyed this year was "The Warded Man" ("The Painted Man"). I am also glad that I had the opportunity to make an interview with the author of the novel, Peter V. Brett.
This week guest is an English artist, Alan Lathwell. Alan works as a freelance illustrator and among his works I could find a wonderful collaboration at "Erth Chronicles" project (I am very curious about this book).
First of all I would like to wish you all a Happy New Year and may all your wishes come true!
I finished the review of the Stephen Jones' anthology "The Mammoth Book of Best New Horror 18". I usually get a lot of mixed feelings when I read anthologies, but this one is very interesting with a majority of good stories.
I finished and posted the review of Ekaterina Sedia's "The Secret History of Moscow". I really liked her novel and the presence of some Russian legends and myths brought me pleasant memories of my childhood. Those were some stories I grew up with :)
I always loved Farscape TV show and now I had the opportunity to return to that universe through the comic book series published by BOOM! Studios. So, I made a comic break and read the first issue of Farscape and enjoyed another adventure in the familiar setting. The series will have a total of 4 issues and I am looking forward to the next 3 :)
One of the novels I enjoyed last year was "Empire in Black and Gold". Next month will be released the second novel in the series, "Dragonfly Falling", but until then I had the opportunity and pleasure to make an interview with the author, Adrian Tchaikovsky.
I finished Shaun Hutson's "Body Count". Although it works much as a thriller with horror elements and I had a few aspects that didn't work for me I had an entertaining and fun read.
The lazy days of winter holidays and the start of the new year brought a pause in my Fantasy Art posts.
But they are back and my first artist guest for 2009 is the Swedish, Mats Minnhagen. A talented artist who started with an academic career in Archaeology, but turned to art. And his works prove his choice.
This week guest of my Fantasy Art post is the Spanish artist, David Munoz Velazquez. I found some very interesting works made by David and I believe that he has a great talent and imagination. Concept Art World defines his works in a very interesting way: “His artwork has hints of a Sci-Fi Dali”.
I finished "The Tower of Shadows" by Drew Bowling. I have to say that I am rather disappointed by this novel and although the author shows talent for writing his novel is not exactly what I am looking for in a reading (my full review).
