Wonderlands

Hey Guys and Girls, here's hoping someone can help me out:
I can't seem to get my Wonderlands badge onto my Wordpress blog - can anyone help me out with a step-by-step FAQ? :-) Seriously, my head's numb on this one; would appreciate any and all help. :-)

Hi Dave - sorry we've been so remiss about sorting this out for you - as you know, I've been on my hols (in France, being bitten by mosquitos - but loving the scenery and wildlife and wine!) and Nick and Mark would not be able to get hold of the info from Ning (as only the 'Network Creator' can do so... It might be an issue they (Ning) need to resolve re compatibility - someone else is having a similar problem...

Just for clarity when I ask them about it: are you copying the html embed text from the Badges page to put in your Wordpress Blog?

Yè I did try that, I even tried to get the HTML code into the source-code of the page. :-( I understand that it might take some time, no problem. :-) Thanks again Deborah. :-)

Hi Dave - well, I'm not sure my answer really provides a solution pre se - but apparently, it makes a difference what version of WordPress you are on (I believe they have .com or .org) If you are on the free .com one, they automatically strip out anything their software considers COULD be an advertisement - it is against their T&Cs. However, if you convert to the .org version, it doesn't do this - or so I have been led to believe... I'm not really sure it would be worth your while to convert your whole Blog over Dave, just for the sake of our wee badge!

I would imagine a text link would be okay though?

Sorry this is not more useful. People are moaning about it to Ning support, but I imagine WordPress will have to become less draconian at their end before it changes...

That's understandable (from WP) but it sucks nontheless. :-( I'll look at putting in a link (I think I've already got one, will make sure) and do a post about Wonderlands. :-) Thanks for checking it out, Deborah, I appreciate your advice. :-) I'm going to be starting a new blog (concentrating on mainstream fiction) and I'll be doing it on the WP Org site, so I'll throw in the link there. :-)

My suggestion is to email the tech support at your blog host and clarify what you're trying to achieve. Even if they can't help you, the problem will most likely be logged and dealt with in future updates. And if they can help you out, woo-hoo! I have dealt with techies for sites like frappr, and they were willing to offer information as well that took the pain and the frustration out of the experience. It also cut on their work toll as well because they didn't need to deal with me too often.

Dave,

I have been playing around with it also. Here's what I did, but the bottom of the badge I wanted was slightly cut off, maybe you will have better luck.

In your dashboard, hit the Design tab, then Theme Editor. One of your template files listed should be called "sidebar". You open that up and paste the code from Wonderlands. It may be a trial and error thing depending on where you paste it in order to get it where you want on the sidebar. If it doesn't work just delete the code.

Hope that helps.
